CSZ-SCZ Blog is interested in articles about any topic of interest to zoologists in Canada, including but not limited to new research in zoology, opinions on hot topics in the zoology space, profiles of people studying or working in a zoology-related field, descriptions of teaching innovations, and advice columns.
Have you recently published a cool new paper? Or read one? We cover new and innovative research in all subareas of zoology and zoologist-adjacent fields. We also highlight classic or foundational research papers, and are interested in commentary about current issues and experiences in research. As many zoologists are also educators, we are also interested in stories about innovations in teaching and related areas, like new classroom exercises or dispatches about outreach events.
We’re just as interested in the zoologists themselves as we are in the work that they do. We’re open to pitches about profiles of people working in zoology-related fields, their opinions, hobbies, and experiences. Zoology is for everyone, and we are committed to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in science. We strive to reflect the diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, lived experiences, training, and interests within our society. We especially encourage pitches from members of historically excluded or underrepresented groups.

We’re recently streamlined the pitch process to encourage more submissions, especially from new and emerging science writers. NEW! We are pleased to now accept French language submissions in addition to English language submissions. All accepted articles will be published in both languages using a combination of AI-assistance and manual translation.
Getting paid
Generous support from the Zoological Education Trust (ZET) enables us to pay writers for their work. We offer a flat rate of $35 per blog post, paid once the piece has been published on the site.
CSZ-SCZ Blog Editors work on a volunteer basis.
